Ker (rhymes with bear) Cleary is a light-trance channeler, writer, and Bach flower essence practitioner based in Eugene, OR, USA. She has channeled her guides consciously since 1989.
Ker is a Bach Foundation Registered Practitioner (BFRP) through the Bach Centre in England, and a Reiki Master Teacher in the Usui tradition. She was a licensed massage therapist and Certified Rebirther in the 1980s-90s. Holding an MA in Contemplative Psychotherapy from Naropa University, Ker is also a (nonpracticing) licensed professional counselor in Oregon. She is a low-maintenance Buddhist.
Ker’s ethics are strong, her caring runs deep, and her faith in her guides is unshakable. She is a skeptic at heart and an eminently practical person. Although she engages in strange-sounding activities (channeling, flower remedies, energy healing!), she does it to help her fellow humans, because it works, and because deep healing can be accessed with these modalities.
Ker says, “I resisted becoming a channeler, but when I met my guides, it was like coming home. As I witnessed the effectiveness of the deep, unconditional love inherent in channeling, I committed myself wholeheartedly to this work. My clients and I find channeled guidance and flower essences joyful and transformative. I feel honored to get to connect the seen and unseen worlds for the benefit of all beings. I never get tired doing this work!”
How did you start channeling? I started having conscious contact with my guides in 1989, when I was a massage therapist. I would pick up bits of information about my clients in session, and when I checked it out with them, they always found it accurate and useful. I proceeded to resist my guides for quite a while, until my friend and mentor Hazel Courtman channeled them for me. When I met them directly, I felt so much love and homecoming that I relaxed and started working intentionally with my guides. My relationship with my guides has grown and developed over the years. I feel deep trust and confidence in them now, and most of the time I am even willing to follow their suggestions (but not always, because I am stubborn and they aren’t the boss of me!).
What is channeling like for you, the channeler? It’s a little bit like a dream state that I can go in and out of at will. I don’t really remember much of what has been said during a session, though I sometimes remember pieces, and I often have a general sense of the tone of the reading. If I am working with a client who is very visually oriented, I usually get lots of visuals during the reading. If they are more kinesthetically oriented, I get body sensations. If they are primarily verbal, I get lots of words, although my guides use a lot of words most of the time, anyway. I have a really lovely sense of my guides’ energy flowing through me during readings and generally feel relaxed afterwards.
As a writer herself, Ker enjoys allowing her guides to write through her for their blog, although their style and content is different from her own. For some of Ker’s own writing, visit her Nothing Special blog.
In her spare time, Ker goes for walks, gardens, plays guitar, sings, putters around, and makes art and earrings. She generally enjoys doing the dishes once she gets started.
